Rotary’s Art With A Heart Auction

The San Antonio Northwest Rotary Club will host its 5th annual Rotary’s Art With A Heart Auction for Any Baby Can, SA and other charities of Rotary, on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at the Oak Hills Country Club, 5403 Fredericksburg Rd. This year’s event will feature Raul Gutierrez, San Antonio’s famous western artist in residence and Texas Artist of the Year, who will be present at the event. It will also premiere Perry Berns Gallery of Dallas, Texas, new auctioneer for the event, and recognized for outstanding art values.

Doors will open at 6 PM for registration, with a preview of art for sale, food/beverage service, and a silent auction of leisure, travel, and luxury items available. The live auction and sale of fine art will begin at 7:30 PM. The art inventory will include over 200 signed original or limited edition works by renowned and regional artists, framed and matted, including oils, watercolors, acrylics, lithographs, etchings, serigraphs, giclee’s, and animation cels.

A preliminary list of fine art for the event includes works by Gutierrez, as well as Chagall, Wooster-Scott, Boulanger, Delacroix, Neiman, Fauchere, Schofield, Sambataro, and Frazier. The majority of the art items will have opening bids ranging from $50 to $400, with some in the $ thousands. Opening bids are generally at least 50% less than traditional framed gallery prices, representing a significant value for art collectors.

Tickets for the event are $35 per person. The ticket price includes an initial social with wine, cheese, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and other refreshments, as well as participation in the auctions and sales. Rotary and Any Baby Can are happy to extend an invitation for this evening of fun and value to their supporters and art enthusiasts throughout the community.

Proceeds from the Rotary’s Art With A Heart Auction will benefit the local family services agency, Any Baby Can, the Northwest Rotary Foundation’s college scholarship fund, and the Rotary International’s various global initiatives. Over the years, many South Texas residents have benefited from all of these programs.
